Nieuwe en betere Sakai website

Enkele weken geleden is de nieuwe internationale Sakai website gelanceerd door de Sakai Foundation. En die ziet er beslist zeer goed uit!
Zo is er op verschillende pagina's gebruik gemaakt van video-fragmenten. En verder zijn er drie grote knoppen gemaakt, waarmee je meteen door kunt naar informatie over Choosing Sakai (redenen om voor Sakai te kiezen), Using Sakai (wie gebruikt Sakai) en Contributing to Sakai (hoe kun je bijdragen leveren aan Sakai).
Dus voor alle informatie over Sakai ga je naar www.sakaiproject.org.
Verder is er een blog toegevoegd, waar je je via RSS natuurlijk ook op kunt abonneren. De RSS feed zie je ook in rechterkolom van dit weblog.

Eerste Sakai Executive Brief is beschikbaar

Vandaag kun je de eerste zogenaamde Sakai Executive Brief lezen. Michael Korcuska heeft deze gepubliceerd op zijn weblog. De Sakai Executive Brief is bedoeld voor diegenen die snel een overzicht willen hebben van waar de wereldwijde Sakai community mee bezig is. Je kunt het zien als een samenvatting van de belangrijkste ontwikkelingen in de afgelopen maanden en ook een vooruitblik op de komende maanden. Last week the Sakai Foundation distributed (it went to Sakai Foundation member reps initially) the first installment of a Sakai Executive Brief that we plan to publish every 6 months. It is focused on providing organizational managers and executives with a brief overview of what has been and what will be happening in Sakai. Those who already follow Sakai closely won’t find a lot new in here but, even Sakai insiders may find it useful for communicating with stakeholders on campus.

Het document is een mooi vormgegeven PDF document, met links naar belangrijke documenten en websites. Erg handig! Zegt het voort, zou ik zeggen.

Nieuwe leden van bestuur Sakai Foundation

Het is al een tijdje geleden, maar er zijn twee nieuwe leden in het bestuur gekozen van de Sakai Foundation. John Norman is herbenoemd en Stephen Marquard is nieuw in het bestuur. Zie het bericht Sakai Board Election Results « Michael Korcuska Sakai Blog

I’m pleased to announce that John Norman (Cambridge) will be continuing as a Sakai Foundation Board member and Stephen Marquard (Cape Town) will be joining the Sakai Foundation Board of Directors.

This year’s slate of candidates was impressively accomplished and diverse–a real testament to the vibrancy of the Sakai community. I want to thank all of those who were willing to serve the Sakai community and in congratulating John and Stephen. The transition officially occurs with the first board meeting in 2009, currently scheduled for January 15th.

The Quality Assurance (QA) Director ensures that Sakai software exceeds industry norms for defects, reliability and scalability. The QA Director is responsible for coordinating the quality assurance activities of the Sakai community and staff.(..) This position can be located anywhere in the world. The QA Director reports to the Sakai Foundation Executive Director.

New Commercial Affiliate for Sakai Foundation

There is a new commercial affiliate for the Sakai Foundation, namely Campus EAI. From the press release at sakaiproject.org:

"We have proven the viability and affordability of Sakai to small and midsize institutions who are struggling to provide a feature-rich and robust eLearning solution with limited resources and strapped budgets," said Anjli Jain, Executive Director of CEAI. "As a partner of the Sakai Foundation, we look forward to collaborating with the members and other Commercial Affiliates to further reduce costs of implementing and supporting Sakai by producing standards, sharing documentation, best practices and lessons learned across the community."

How to go about with product management?

Michael Korcuska, who is the Executive Director of the Sakai Foundation, has formulated his ideas and views on product management for Sakai. Coming from a corporate background, he has some refreshing ideas that blend in nicely with the Sakai 'way of working' so far. Michael invites everyone to comment on the wiki of the Sakai Foundation.

New Executive Director for Sakai Foundation

John Norman, chairman of the Sakai Foundation Board of Directors, has announced today that we have a new Executive Director: "After a thorough search I am pleased to announce, on behalf of the Board of Directors, that Michael Korcuska has been named Executive Director of the Sakai Foundation, effective July 23, 2007. In this role, he will lead the Foundation's activities in developing technology, sharing best practices, and fostering collaboration on behalf of the Sakai community."
Michael (link to this current position, including picture) will be present in Amsterdam, so that he can meet with the community.
